An Ofsted report provides an independent evaluation of a school’s performance following an inspection by Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills). These reports help parents understand how well a school is doing and identify areas for improvement.
Under the new Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF), inspections no longer give a single overall grade such as Outstanding or Good. Instead, schools receive a detailed report card covering several key areas:
- Leadership and Governance
- Curriculum and Teaching
- Achievement
- Attendance and Behaviour
- Personal Development and Wellbeing
- Inclusion
- Early Years
Safeguarding is judged separately as Met or Not Met.
Each area is graded on a five-point scale:
- Exceptional
- Strong Standard
- Expected Standard
- Needs Attention
- Urgent Improvement
Ofsted Parent View is an online survey where parents can share their opinions about their child’s school. It helps Ofsted understand what parents think about key aspects like:
- The quality of teaching and learning
- How well the school supports children’s needs
- Whether children feel safe and happy
- Behaviour and bullying management
- Leadership and communication
Ofsted uses this feedback during inspections to get a wider picture of the school. Parents can fill it out at any time on the Ofsted website.
